The cup usually starts in February with teams defeated in the first round going in the Leinster Under-14 Plate.

Navan are the current champions having defeated Naas in the Final.

Regulations

This competition is organised by the Youth Section of the Leinster Branch and is subject to the Youths Regulations.

This competition is open to all affiliated clubs with an 'Active Youth Section'.

All players must be the correct age (under 14 years of age before the 1st July directly preceding the competition).

All players must be registered.

Clubs should have a valid ID card for each player.

All players must be eligible youths players as defined in the Youths Regulations.

History

Concurrent with Balbriggan RFC's re-founding in 1969 - as a Youth club - a Balbriggan solicitor, Gerard L McGowan, put up a Cup in 1969.

The Cup was initially played at Under 12 level. It later moved to Under-13 and it went to Under-14 in 1983/'84.

The first final in 1969/'70 saw Co Carlow defeat Skerries.

This first Leinster Youth Cup was contested by 4 teams; Drogheda, Balbriggan, Skerries and Co Carlow.
